We are very much in love with jQuery at the moment and have replaced many of the controls from the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit with jQuery equivalents. One of these is the ACT Tab Container. One thing that we need to do is persist the currently selected tab index across page postbacks.

Today version 1.11 of nopCommerce (the worlds best open source .net shopping cart) was released. RetroViz Design recently joined the nopCommerce development team and have contributed significanly to this release.

We are really happy with the new features included in version 1.11. For a complete feature list view the release notes page at http://www.nopcommerce.com/ReleaseNotes.aspx.

Amongst many of the new features in this release, one key difference is the complete redesign of both the storefront and administration portal. Although it took some time, we are really pleased with the results.

The storefront is now 100% css based and we structured the css stylesheets/skins in a way to make it really easy for people to create their own designs. In fact, it took us only 10 minutes to recreate the classic nopCommerce theme from the main "DarkOrange" theme.

The usability of the administration portal has been greatly improved and it is now easy than ever for storekeepers to build their catalog and run their online store.

In addition to the UI changes, some key new functionality was added including:

  • Anonymous checkout
  • Support for kit products
  • Improved stock control and low stock notifications
  • Front end paging and filtering of products - all easily controlled from administration
  • Manage both dynamic image resizing and url rewriting (creating search engine friendly URLS) from administration.

We also want to offer our gratitude to Mr. Andrei Mazoulnitsyn for making nopCommerce possible.
